Promoting peer mediation in schools across the UK

Is School Peer Mediation here?

A minority of schools in the United Kingdom are using peer mediation. Amongst the organising committee for this Forum are both trainers and representatives from some of the schools that have embraced the culture. Most schools - and often those that need it - have not heard of the process.

Around the world there are different levels of uptake. In parts of Australia and the United States, for example, it is common place. So too in some countries in Europe. In other areas, it is unknown.

A Spontaneous Movement

Peer mediation is an entirely spontaneous movement. It has no global or United Kingdom based body to bring it to life, to learn and distribute best practice, to promote uptake, or to recommend trainers. Its development has been remarkable, beneficial, and well intentioned, but without the focus it deserves.
